SWT Theatre Technician (Sound Bias)

Job description

As a key member of our technical team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the audio landscape for a diverse range of performances, from cutting-edge dance and theatre to live music and experimental sound installations.

You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of sound systems for a variety of performances such as The Rocky Horror Show, Carmen, Northern Ballet Romeo & Juliet and so many more to mention. You will collaborate closely with different departments and other technical specialists to create immersive and captivating auditory experiences.

We are a receiving theatre with varied seasons, including both artistic and commercial activities. You would be required to have a flexible approach to working patterns, and ideally will have experience of working with either repertory or touring companies.

Are you a Sound Technician in a live performance environment? Do you have a deep knowledge of audio engineering principles, equipment, and software? Do you have a passion for contemporary dance or theatre or music? If so, then this is the role for you!

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge, skills and experience to an advanced level in sound and electrical theory

  • Experience of working with large-scale opera, dance or ballet

  • Experience of live sound engineering
