Assistant Artist
Job description
Sadler’s Wells are looking for up to 4 freelance Assistant Artists based in east London to work across our Learning & Engagement activity.
What will I do?
This is a professional development opportunity that will run from September 2024 to March 2025. Over this time, you will use your expertise in your dance style to assist across a range of our work in a variety of spaces, with different ages and communities. You will assist up to at least 10 sessions over the duration of the programme and your schedule will be designed to fit around your other commitments. As well as assisting, you will have the chance to attend various training opportunities and receive mentoring from staff members and/or freelance Dance Artists working across our programme and the wider sector.
What will I get from this?
Learn different approaches to leading dance in community settings
Learn how to adapt your practice/teaching to ensure inclusivity and best practice
Meet and work with freelance dance artists working across the industry
Work with a mentor who can support your progress throughout this programme
To apply you need to (essential):
Have lived, worked or studied to either Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets, Hackney or Newham.
Have up to two years of experience in this area of work.
Be interested in working in community-based dance.
Be over 18 years old.
Desirable
We are particularly interested in dancers with experience in the following dance styles:
Ballroom, in particular Waltz, Foxtrot, Jive, Swing.
Musical Theatre
Samba
Waacking
Fee - each artist will receive a fee of £21-130 depending on the type and length of session.
